Court awards N20m damages to detained Special Assistant to Sen. Saraki, Bar. Ikenga Ugochinyere

A Federal High Court presided over by Justice Tsoho in Abuja declared on Friday declared the one month arrest/detention of the National Youth Council and Special Assistant to Bukola Saraki on Youth and Students Matters, Barrister Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere illegal. Justice Tsoho also ordered the DSS and Federal Minister of Youths Solomon Dalung to tender a written public apology to him and publish it in two National Dailies(Guardian and Nation Newspapers).The Court also awarded N20 milion naira in damages to be paid  to Ikenga immediately with an order for perpetual injunction against further harrasment by the State Security.

It would be recalled that Ugochinyere’s family relaesed a statement in April 2016, saying that Ugochinyere has been detained by the DSS after his invitation by the Assistant Director of Internal Security.
