A 24-year-old Fayetteville man is been charged for a first degree murder after he shot his mother in the head. Kevin Tyrone on Thursday afternoon walked into his mother's nail salon and spa located at 1111 Ireland Drive in Fayetteville and shot her in the face as she worked behind the counter.
"He didn't say anything to me other than 'Yeah that's my mom,' He just stood for over me while I'm on the ground for with her, trying to help her breath like. He was just standing there just standing there watching me while I was on the ground with his mother, he wasn't trying to help me or anything he was just standing,” an eyewitness, McKenzie said.
Police say Derema "Miss "Dee" Burch, 44, and was initially treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. She was later life-flighted to Chapel Hill and is listed in critical but stable condition. His son Powell is Powell is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he remains under a $750,000 secure bond.
